Roasted Prime Rib with Horseradish Sauce Recipe

Total Time: ~ 90 minutes


Ingredients (Prime Rib)

  • ~ 5 pound bone-in prime rib
  • 8 oz Patterson’s Mopping Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons fresh cracked black pepper


Directions (Prime Rib)

  • Preheat your oven to 500 degrees
  • Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator approximately 1.5 hours before you plan to cook so that it can reach room temperature.
  • Cover the prime rib with Patterson’s Mopping Sauce
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper liberally over the entire surface 
  • Place the prime on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.
  • Cook for 13 minutes at 500 degrees, then lower the oven temperature to 325 degrees and cook for 13 minutes per pound - (this is 65 minutes for a 5 pound prime rib). This will result in a medium rare finished product. If you’re taking an internal temperature, you’re looking for around 125-130 degrees for the perfect medium rare.


Directions (Horseradish Sauce)

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
