Fresh pizza dough (go to your local pizzeria - they’ll sell you some and you’re supporting local business!). If you are inspired, we love this homemade artisan pizza dough recipe.
½ cup Tomato sauce (we like to make this fresh tomato sauce, but any sauce will do)
¼ cup Patterson’s Mopping Sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
~8 oz shredded or fresh mozzarella
~8 oz shredded cheddar
Any other toppings that you love - we always add mushrooms and onions
Directions
Preheat the oven to 500° F (for most ovens, this is the broil setting) with the cooking rack in the center of the oven.
This bbq chicken pizza recipe can be made using a pizza stone, pizza steel or sheet pan. Put whatever you choose into the oven as it is preheating.
Spread the dough onto a piece of parchment paper (this will make it easy to slide onto the cooking vessel: for more details on this method, see the breakdown here).
Mix tomato sauce and Patterson’s Mopping Sauce together and spread over the dough - be sure to leave space around the edges for a great crust.
Add the chicken and spread evenly across the pizza
Add cheeses - we like to use large chunks of fresh mozzarella, but shredded mozzarella and cheddar work great.
Remove the preheated cooking vessel from the oven and quickly slide the parchment paper (with pizza) onto it and back in the oven
Cook for ~10 - 20 minutes (checking constantly, but don’t open the oven) or until crust has risen and is charred on top.
Notes
A great addition to the recipe for bbq chicken pizza is fresh chopped cilantro on top right before you eat it.
